About one year ago, we began the project of converting Luminous-Landscape to the new and present format. It was a difficult task since there were over 5000 articles formatted, using several different HTML editors. We needed to get everything in sync and formatted to today’s systems. We were able to accomplish a lot and we launched the new site in February.

Since then, we have been adding small features and ‘under the hood’ changes to make the site work better. We have also upgraded the forum software to the newest version, to make it more secure and robust.

One part of the old website did not make it over to the new site and that was the What’s New Section. Today we are happy to say that What’s New is not only back, but it is also bigger and better.

The Whats New selection on the menu bar

What’s New can be found on the menu bar. It also has its own RSS Feed if you use RSS Feeds. We have made it so you will see the most recent three days of What’s New. You can click on the Show More button to see the previous three days and so forth.

Click on any button to filter just those selections

We have 4 sections for What’s New. These sections are Luminous, which is for the latest articles on the site. Rantatorial is for when we publish new Rantatorials. External allows us to share news linked to external links. We’ll share news that we feel our readers will find useful and interesting. Finally we have added a section for what is trending in the Luminous-Landscape forums.

As you mouse over a section you’ll see the post fade out and a Read More button becomes visible. By clicking this button you’ll be taken directly to the article in the post. We have also added a ‘search by date range’ feature. Click on the Find By Date box and a start and end date search box will open. Select the dates you want to search within and click Apply. This is a good feature for catching up on things since your last visit or if you have been away for a while.

We hope you like our new What’s New section. I want to give a special thanks to the team at Swellfire who have worked hard to make all these features possible.
